Ceylon, the tea island .

Formerly called Ceylon , but still called that today, the island of Sri Lanka is one of the major players in the cultivation and production of tea , and mainly black tea . There are also some green teas and white teas , but in small quantities and rare are the interesting vintages. The majority of plantations are located in the south of the island, the best known regions of which are those of Kandy , Nuwara Eliya , Dimbula , Uva in which three main types of tea are produced. Low-altitude teas (low-grown) grown in the plains, medium-altitude teas (mid-grown) between 600 and 1200 meters, and high-altitude teas (high-grown) between 1200 and 2200 meters, often considered as the best. We recognize a Ceylon black tea by its coppery color, its powerful character and its woody and spicy aroma. Ideal for breakfast and brunch.
