Programme Le Printemps des Poètes 2022 à Bordeaux

The spring of poets at an air of tea in partnership with the Friends of the Reading Machine!

In 2022, the 24th edition of the Printemps des Poètes will explore and compose on the notion of the ephemeral.

The ephemeral is a notion dear to the world of the Arts; questioned in literature as this extract from The Little Prince shows us:

"But what does "ephemeral" mean?" repeated the little prince, who, in his life, had never given up on a question once he had asked it. "It means 'that is threatened with imminent disappearance.'" "My flower is threatened with imminent disappearance?" "Of course." Antoine de SAINT-EXUPERY, The Little Prince

She is a great source of inspiration in photography, poetry, landscape art or the art of tea!

La Maison un air de thé is pleased to collaborate with the event "Le temps d'un souffle" organized by the cultural association Les Amis de la Machine à Lire from March 7 to 26, 2022. A series of readings, exhibitions, meetings and tastings on the dual theme of the Ephemeral and Japan!

The notion of the ephemeral is experienced with particular resonance in the land of the rising sun... Where "appreciating the beauty of the ephemeral, the imperfect, and the simple" is a concept called "Wabi Sabi" and also a philosophy.

Immerse yourself in the philosophy of Wabi Sabi at the various cultural events offered by Les Amis de la Machine à Lire. Some events will be held at our venue!

  • A photographic exhibition because the art of photography is when the ephemeral becomes reality...

Discover Arnaud Rodriguez's photographs at Un Air de Thé from March 7 to 26, 2022.

  • A tea ceremony, also called Chanoyu, is a suspended and ephemeral moment, where we celebrate harmony, respect, purity and serenity.

  • A workshop to discover Japanese teas, and take a moment to taste them mindfully.

As Okakura Kakuzô so aptly wrote, "Shall we enjoy a cup of tea? The afternoon light illuminates the bamboo, the water in the fountains gurgles delightfully, the sigh of the pines whispers in the cast-iron cauldron. Let us dream of evanescence and abandon ourselves to the mad beauty of things."

Self-portrait of Arnaud Rodriguez

Capturing a smile, remembering someone you passed in the street, intercepting a light, gathering the objects you love so much, collecting evidence of a journey, associating a smell or a sound with an image... Arnaud Rodriguez appreciates these little moments with such Japanese sensitivity and transcribes them in turn through photography, writing, or graphics.

A few words from the artist about his work:

"Nothing heavy, nothing solemn, nothing conventional." Reading these words, written by Corinne Atlan and Zéno Bianu in the introduction to the Anthology of Short Japanese Poems to describe a haiku—or rather, to entertain the idea of giving it meaning—I immediately felt a strange sensation: someone had put words to some of my images, that is, to my way of understanding their creation and to what they express.

On the walls of Un air de thé, I wanted to bring together four photographs, one per season, and four haikus. The selected texts and images do not escape what Japan offers to those who visit: that something we call tradition and that transports us to another place. A geographical and temporal elsewhere, but also a sensory, conceptual one. By bringing them together, what else do they tell us?
